URBAN STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP – CHANDIGARH, INDIA

Where: Chandigarh, India
As Wikipedia puts it “street photography is photography conducted for art or enquiry that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents within public places”. This is the beginning of a good definition that includes many details. In this workshop we will discuss the range of possibilities and methods used in street photography along with its history, taking into consideration concerns and personal responsibility. We will also spend a day doing street photography and an additional day reviewing the work produced. This experience should offer a better understanding of street photography and give participants encouragement to find a vision of their own.
Day 1 (December 1): Talk/Presentation – 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm
Day 2 (December 2): Location shooting – 9:00 am to 5:30 pm
The students will work in groups of two and have eight separate assignments during the day.
Assignments – 9:00 am to 9:30 am
AM shooting session – 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
Lunch – 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm
PM shooting session – 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Post shooting discussion – 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm
Day 3 (December 3): Show and review assignments – 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Eight photographs from each participant, one from each assignment will be shown and discussed.
We will review the workshop activities.
Assemble photographs from each participant. – 9:00 am to 10:00 am
Show and discuss work by each participant – 10:00 am to 12:30 pm
Lunch break – 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm
Continue discussion, workshop review, and take a group photo – 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm
